Internship Program Information
KfH is a 501(c)3 organization established to engage leaders and organizations of the South Florida community with the common purpose to help in the relief and rebuild process of Haiti. Our community-based hub is focused on building capacity in the South Florida Community. Through this initiative we provide individuals, both local and international, the opportunity to be actively involved by establishing programs aimed towards bridging the gap and not duplicating efforts.
Internship Program Available: Intern will be responsible for implementing the set curriculum that will be set up for the entirety of the summer.
Job Title: Unpaid Internship
Eligibility: Candidate must either be a graduate student, an undergraduate student or have graduated from college within 12 months of the beginning of the program. Candidate must have a strong background or taken courses in English and/or Education. Must be experienced in dealing with and counseling students, have taken courses in Psychology, Communications and are able to exercise strategies of conflict resolution. Are able to engage and interact with students, display leadership qualities and can adapt to cultural changes. Must be able implement program outline and lesson plans, well organized, detail oriented, flexible and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to successfully fulfill internship requirements.
General Information: Program will be from June to August 2011 for three hours a day twice a week. This summer program will be a reading program based on an easy read to help expose students to everyday issues and relate them to the works of popular writers and artists in the Hip Hop industry. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week. Interns may receive academic credit if an agreement is made between KfH and the intern’s college or university. All interns are subject to the applicable KfH employee rules.
